Red Bar Gallery in Brickell is a great place to sample modern urban abstract art. The low light of the rustic antique lamps, and modern cone shaped hanging lamps draw out the paintings on the walls. This is a great place to check out.
Bartender Andre Perez said, “most of the paintings are the work of local artists, sometimes someone is painting on the spot so people can walk in to see, and at the same time there is a band going so it creates a nice atmosphere.” Perez said, “newcomers are welcome to bring in paintings or drawings,” Some still photos are also on the walls. There is a picture of a bridge up on the wall that a photographer put up.
The term local might be deceiving since Brickell has visitors from all over the world. Yes, bands from overseas visit Red Bar Gallery all of the time. Each week a new featured artist comes in. Once a week comedians get up, and tell jokes. Perez said, “most are local though we get comedians from all over too.” It is a place where creative thought can thrive. For the collector a picture is worth a thousand words, take a look around.
